Being mesmerized by the strange but uniquely beautiful sounds
of Jimi Hendrix's music, Peter Mongaya Hogsholm picked up
the guitar at the age of 14. Peter, then began playing in
various rock groups including his own Hendrix power trio.
As a native of Denmark, Europe Peter Attended Sankt Annae
Gymnasium (a prominent fine arts and music high school in
Copenhagen, Denmark.) His musical palette was prepared for
different styles of music such as funk, fusion, world music
and jazz. While there, Peter had the opportunity to play in
the school's Big Band and also another jazz/funk group that
represented the school for a national music contest, along
with participating in many other musical projects.
After graduating school, Peter attended "Jazz Akademiet",
Noeddeknaekkeren, Copenhagen where he got to study under some
of Copenhagen's finest jazz avant-garde musicians.
Residing a half year in Manila, Philippines, Peter played
for Philippine recording artists Kulay and with South Border
a popular Philippine R&B group. Peter left the Philippines
in hopes of playing and studying in the States.
Upon arrival in the US, Peter entered the Players School of
Music in Clearwater, founded by world renowned bass virtuoso
Jeff Berlin.
Since that time Peter has played guitar with/for : Shawn
Brown Group, Nu Soul Company, Taxi, OMNI and various others,
played lead guitar and co-written two songs for Javen Campbell's
CD "Fresh Oil". He has also been an opening act for: Scott
Henderson trio, Joe Sample, Galactic and Aquarium Rescue unit.
Currently when Peter isn't pickin' and grinnin' with the
Mike MacArthur Group, he teaches music at Lee Academy for
Gifted Education in Tampa and is the Musical Director at the
Church of the Lost and Found.
